HIGHLANDERS’ left back Bruce Kangwa was yesterday dropped from the Warriors’ African Nations Championship (Chan) squad that assembles in the capital today ahead of the 2014 bi-annual showpiece.
Kangwa, hugely favoured to be Highlanders’ player of the year during the club’s annual awards night this Friday, was a second half substitute in the international friendly match against Mozambique that the Warriors won 2-1 at Barbourfields Stadium.
He had a decent game.
Warriors coach Ian Dibango Gorowa named a 29 member squad that will be trimmed down to 23 after 10 days.
Sharrif Mussa, the Warriors manager said all the called up players should assembly at the Zifa house this evening with training set to start tomorrow morning.
Four goalkeepers, George Chigova of Dynamos, Munyaradzi Diya of Highlanders, Tafadzwa Dube out of contract but with Caps United last season and Harare City’s Maxwell Nyamupanedengu were called up.
“All the players should be in camp tomorrow (today) evening. The squad will be trimmed down to 23 players after about 10 days,” said Mussa.
Also called up were the two Simbas of Zimbabwean football, from How Mine and Castle Lager Premiership champions Dynamos.
League debutants Triangle contributed two players, Misheck Mburayi and former Tsholotsho FC forward Pasca Manhanga.
