ZIMBABWE’S Warriors remained outside the top 100-ranked teams in the world after dropping one place down the ladder on the latest Fifa Coca Cola World Football Rankings. According to the latest release, Ian Gorowa’s men dropped one place to 102nd place in the world but remained the 27th best team on the Caf rankings.
Last month, Zimbabwe made tremendous strides when they moved 15 places up to 101st in the world and 26th in Africa. But due to inactivity over the previous month, where their last match was a 2-1 victory over South Africa in a friendly, the Warriors paid the price for being stagnant as they accumulated 328 points during the period under review.
At the last ranking, Zimbabwe had 332 points. At the moment, Zimbabwe have no confirmed fixture in sight and Gorowa will be hoping to regroup before the end of the year as they intensify their preparations for the African Nations Championship set for South Africa.
Gorowa’s men will kick-start their bid for honours with a clash against Morocco at Athlone Stadium in Cape Town, a day after hosts South Africa, who will be using Greenpoint in the same city, would have played against Mozambique in a Group A opener on January 11.
