It’s a big moment for the Magwegwe-born football star today.
The fan club that was established in January this year said they were aiming at making a difference in Bulawayo where Mwaruwari was born and bred hence they took a clean-up campaign as well as a road show that ended in Magwegwe, Benjani’s birth place.
“We are happy with the turnout and we will be joined up by our other members at Entumbane and Magwegwe where it will all end with some football matches.
“The reasoning behind our campaign is to make a difference in the Bulawayo community as we celebrate one of our biggest stars who is calling it a day on his Warriors career and we thought it befitting as the Warriors fans to do something for the community he grew up in.”
“We are friends to all our Warriors, the Mighty Warriors, the senior Warriors and the entire junior Warriors and we want to show our appreciation to Mwaruwari,” WFC national vice president and Bulawayo chairperson Lynn Green said yesterday.
Mpilo Children’s Hospital matron-in-charge Phineas Sithole expressed his gratitude to WFC for the gesture.
“The Warriors’ Friends Club came at 9am, swept and mopped our floors while others picked litter, and they eventually donated food to us. We are so grateful for their concern,” Sithole said.
