The Warriors have remained 100th on the FIFA World rankings while their next opponents in the World Cup qualifiers, Egypt,
continue to fall, dropping five places down to 75.
The latest FIFA rankings released on Thursday also indicate that Zimbabwe has remained the 26th best soccer nation in Africa while Egypt moved down to 16th.
Zimbabwe who are third in Group G of the World Cup qualifiers, clash with the Egyptian Pharaohs in a decisive encounter set for March 26 in the city of Alexandria hoping to revive their fading chances of making it to the finals in Brazil next year.
The Warriors’ other opponents in the group, Guinea and Mozambique, notably climbed up the FIFA rankings.
Guinea, whom Zimbabwe date in June after the back-to-back clashes with Egypt, moved one place up the ladder to 72nd and 15th in the world and
the Confederation of African Football (Caf) ratings respectively.
Mozambique have pushed five places upwards and now occupy position 29 in the Caf rankings and 109th in the world.
Northern neighbours and 2012 Afcon champions, Zambia moved 11 places up the ladder and retained their place in the world’s top 50 soccer nations on position 36 and sixth in the African rankings.
West African giants, Cote D’Ivoire, retained top spot in Africa while world champions, Spain remain the top ranked in the overall rankings.
Ghana, Mali, Afcon champions Nigeria, and Algeria complete the top five on the Caf rankings whilst little Djibouti remained anchored at the bottom of the African rankings on position 54.
