Warriors to host Lesotho at Orlando Stadium

Sports Reporter
It’s now confirmed, Zimbabwe will host their next World Cup qualifier in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The homeless Warriors play Lesotho at Orlando Stadium on June 7, before facing South Africa at Free State on June 11.

“Yes it’s confirmed,” ZIFA chief executive officer, Yvonne Manwa, told Zimpapers Sport.

The football association is already circulating a poster of the two successive games in South Africa.

Currently, Zimbabwe has no stadium that can host international matches.

Last November, the Warriors used Huye Stadium in Rwanda as their home ground when they drew 1-1 against Nigeria, a few days after they had played a goalless draw against Rwanda at the same venue.

While it is now confirmed that Zimbabwe will play in South Africa, it is not clear who will be in charge of the Warriors for the upcoming two matches.

Norman Mapeza took charge when Zimbabwe played in a four-nation tournament in Malawi in March.

But the football association has since advertised the post for a substantive coach.

However, given the limited time between now and the qualifiers against Lesotho and South Africa, Mapeza is likely to preside over the two games, on an interim basis.
