IMBUBE music ensemble Amaqaqa is gearing up to entertain audiences with their latest musical production, Singing Like Birds, scheduled for May 31 at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe in Bulawayo.
The event promises a rich blend of sounds as it will also feature performances by Zinjaziyamluma and Udonsi Lwabapostoli, offering attendees a dynamic fusion of musical genres.
Amaqaqa’s founder, Khulekani Mnkandla, shared insights about the inspiration behind the show’s title.
“We named the production Singing Like Birds because just like birds, which have their unique and sweet ways of expressing themselves, we will be presenting different sounds and voices in our music.”
Mnkandla revealed that this performance will carry a deeper mood and message.
“This time around, we’ll be focusing on themes of peace and gender-based violence (GBV), delivering our songs in various languages. We’re also mixing sounds to create a captivating rhythm that will engage our audience fully.”
He added, “Our fans should expect an intense live performance, where we pour out our emotions. Our goal is to elevate imbube music to new heights, where it is respected and recognised alongside other prominent genres.” – Follow updates on X: @mthabisi_mthire
