ZIMBABWEAN singer Ammara Brown has made an emotional appeal to her fans to pray for her after a series of setbacks, including theft, her son’s swimming pool accident, illness and online bullying, which she says have happened within the space of three weeks.
In a video posted on Facebook under the caption “Please Pray for me”, the Nyarara hitmaker opened up about what she described as a difficult period while she works on her upcoming album, Flaming Lily, and other projects.
Brown said the troubles began while she was in Zanzibar, towards the end of mixing the album, when her AirPods Max headphones were stolen.
Days later, while launching the music video for Andy Zindegaar, her son was involved in an accident in a swimming pool, forcing them to rush him to hospital.
As if that was not enough, Brown said she went online on the night before her wedding and found about 500 TikTok users cyberbullying her over the video.
“It is not a coincidence,” she said as she recounted the incidents.
Brown said she later replaced her headphones and travelled to support fellow musician Natio at his listening session in London.
She said she had by then decided to pray and fast after returning from London, but her plans were disrupted after she returned to Leicester and woke up with a severe flu and cough that left her without a voice.
“I woke up with a horrible flu and cough so bad I had no voice,” she said.
Brown, however, continued with her professional commitments and performed in Dublin, describing the show as a great one.
But after the performance, another setback awaited her.
The singer said she and her team left the venue at about 3.30am and discovered that her belongings had been stolen from a car.
Her laptop, headphones and make-up were among the items taken.
The loss of the laptop was particularly frustrating as Brown said she was using it to continue mixing Flaming Lily while travelling, as well as editing the Eternity music video ahead of its planned launch on Saturday.
Despite the string of setbacks, Brown said she remained hopeful.
“I don’t know what God has in store for me. There’s something great on the other side and the darkness is trying me,” she said.
Brown said there were things she had not shared with her fans but, at this point, she was simply asking for their prayers.
“I’ve never told you everything, but I’m just asking for your prayer. How much I just need your prayer,” she said.
She ended the video by thanking her fans for their support.
