THE Delta Corporation US$35 million brewhouse is a massive show of confidence in the re-industralisation-drive of Bulawayo.
This was said by the city’s Deputy Mayor, Councillor Edwin Ndlovu during the groundbreaking of the brewhouse at Belmont plant on Thursday morning.
“As the City of Kings, we are deeply honoured that Delta Beverages has chosen the city of Bulawayo once again as a site for industrial expansion and innovation,” said Cllr Ndlovu.
“This is not just a groundbreaking; it is a homecoming for a company that was born here and has grown to become a national symbol of excellence,” he said.
Cllr Ndlovu said Delta has been one of the key industrial partners contributing to the city’s revenue base, providing employment, and supporting social development initiatives over the decades.
“We commend delta for its continued support to community programs, water conservation initiatives, and its commitment to local sourcing that benefits our small and medium enterprises.
“This US$35 million investment comes at a time when Bulawayo is reasserting itself as Zimbabwe’s industrial hub.
“We are witnessing a new wave of confidence from both local and international investors”
Deputy Mayor Ndlovu said as council, it will continue to prioritize infrastructure renewal from water augmentation projects to road rehabilitation and electricity coordination to ensure that Bulawayo remains open and ready for business.
“We are particularly pleased that this project will create local employment and procurement opportunities for Bulawayo-based contractors. artisans, and suppliers.
“Every dollar spent here has a ripple effect that strengthens our local economy. We hope Delta will continue to partner with our tertiary institutions in developing brewing, engineering, and sustainability skills for our young people.”
