BULAWAYO National Association of Secondary School Heads (NASH) athletics chairman, Cain Ncube was happy to see some of his athletes taking part in the Wafawafa Championships at White City Stadium on Saturday.
The event was hosted by the National Athletics Association of Zimbabwe. It was a selection and raking event which drew the best out of the athletes and quality fields from all over Zimbabwe.
Ncube was in attendance enjoying every moment he saw a secondary school athlete from his province in action. He says the gained exposure added to two series championships organised by his body will put Bulawayo Metropolitan Province a tailender over the years in good stead.
It has become a norm that the secondary schools teams from Bulawayo and Matabeleland North occupy position nine and 10 in national championships.
“We are very hopeful that by the standards witnessed here, we are going to field very talented athletes,” said Ncube adding that Magwegwe, Riverdale, Sobukazi, Lobengula and Northlea were present at the event.
