THE completion of four multi-purpose courts at Chinotimba Stadium has strengthened Victoria Falls’ growing reputation as a sports tourism destination, as Zimbabwe prepares to host the SADC Anti-Corruption Expo and Games.
The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC), in partnership with the City of Victoria Falls, funded and built two volleyball and two netball courts.
The facilities, also suitable for basketball and other ball games, will be officially utilised during the regional event from September 17 to 19, 2026.
More than 800 participants from eight SADC countries that include Zimbabwe, Zambia, Tanzania, South Africa, Eswatini, Lesotho, Namibia and Botswana are expected.
The Democratic Republic of Congo will attend as an observer ahead of joining next year.
Vice President Kembo Mohadi is expected to grace the games.
ZACC communications and media liaison manager Ms Simiso Mlevu said Chinotimba, traditionally known for Division One football, was identified after Zimbabwe won the hosting bid.
“When Zimbabwe was awarded the bid, we identified Victoria Falls as the suitable city. We collaborated with Victoria Falls City Council. They provided the land and ZACC funded two volleyball courts and two netball courts. These courts are complete and ready for utilisation,” she said.

For Victoria Falls, the investment is more than an anti-corruption event. It is a legacy project that boosts the city’s sports tourism profile. City of Victoria Falls public relations officer Mr Leonard Ncube thanked ZACC for upgrading the stadium.
“This is a legacy project that will remain in Victoria Falls for the benefit of the community in terms of sports tourism. We know we have a cricket stadium being constructed, and now with these netball and volleyball courts, Victoria Falls will be a hub of sports tourism. We would have teams coming to compete and participate in Victoria Falls,” he said.
The development complements other sports infrastructure, including the planned cricket stadium, positioning the resort city to attract regional tournaments, teams and spectators beyond traditional tourism.
By hosting a major SADC sporting and anti-corruption gathering, Victoria Falls is showing that sport can drive visitor arrivals, investment and community pride.
