THE rehabilitation of the Bulawayo/Bulawayo Road is gaining momentum with priming of a section of highway in Insuza already underway.
The contractor working in the Insuza area has blocked access to the highway and diverted traffic to a several-kilometre detour to allow for smooth operations.
A Zimpapers news crew visited the site on Wednesday and observed construction workers hard at work.
In total, contractors were awarded contracts to rehabilitate the critical trade and tourism route linking Zimbabwe to neighbouring countries such as Zambia, Botswana and Namibia.
The other contractors on the 400 plus kilometre highway are a various stages of rehabilitation on each of their allocated lots.
The rehabilitation project is expected to take several months to complete and bring the highway back to trafficable conditions that ease the movement of goods and people and promote economic growth.
