Bulawayo’s rising DJ and producer, Spenser M, is quickly turning heads in Southern Africa’s electronic music scene. Known for his fusion of Afro-tech and 3-Step, he has been dubbed the next big thing after Nitefreak.

This past weekend, he embarked on his first regional tour in Egypt, marking a significant milestone in his career.

Introducing himself, Spenser M said: “I’m a DJ and music producer who creates Afro-tech and 3-Step, blending deep African rhythm with futuristic electronic energy. My music is all about feeling, a journey that connects culture, groove, and emotion.”

His journey began with curiosity and a love for how sound brings people together, experimenting in home setups, playing small sessions, and eventually producing his own tracks to tell stories through rhythm and texture.

The Egypt tour came via Kuunga Music, an Egyptian company that discovered his music online and reached out on Instagram.
“At first, I was surprised because I never expected a DM to turn into a real tour, but when it was confirmed, I felt grateful and inspired. It showed me that the sound is spreading beyond borders,” he said.

Spenser M has already performed in Cairo and Alexandria, describing the contrasting energy of each city.
“Cairo is fast-paced and electric, while Alexandria brings a calmer, soulful energy by the sea. The crowd’s response has been powerful, even without understanding the language, they connect deeply to the rhythm, and that’s what music is all about.”

One tour highlight for him came when the audience sang along to one of his unreleased tracks, a moment that affirmed the reach of his music beyond Zimbabwe.

Comparing Zimbabwe and Egypt’s music scenes, Spenser noted: “Egypt’s sound has strong electronic and oriental influences, while Bulawayo leans more toward percussion and soul. But both share the same passion for fresh sounds. My Afro-tech/3-Step fusion is new to many here, but it resonates.”

On this tour, he has already started collaborating with Egyptian producers to fuse Afro and Middle Eastern sounds, creating music that represents both worlds.

Spenser M describes his sound as modern Afro-electronic, deep, rhythmic, and emotional, always carrying the energy of Bulawayo – percussion, vocal textures, and groove that make African music timeless.

For him, performing internationally is both personal and professional.
“It’s a way of representing my roots through the global language of music. Egypt has inspired me to experiment more with cross-cultural elements; upcoming projects will reflect that evolution.”

He also hinted at upcoming releases and tours.
“I have new music dropping soon, including collaborations with Zimbabwean and Egyptian artistes. There are performances planned in South Africa, Kenya, and India. This Egypt tour is just the beginning. Next year, I see my music reaching more stages in Africa and Europe, continuing to build bridges through Afro-inspired electronic music.”
