POLICE officers at Entumbane Police Station in Bulawayo have pledged to provide a professional, people-centred service anchored on the Constitution of Zimbabwe, while declaring zero tolerance for corruption, laziness and incompetence within their ranks.

Speaking during the launch of the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Station Level Client Service Charter at Entumbane Shopping Complex on Thursday, Officer in Charge of Entumbane Police Station, Chief Inspector Thobekile Ncube, said the charter clearly outlines the station’s area of jurisdiction, service standards, timelines and the minimum level of service that residents should expect from the police.
She said the launch marked a commitment by the station to accountability, professionalism and efficient service delivery.

“By launching this service charter, we are committing ourselves to our area of jurisdiction, the timelines and minimum service that the community must expect from the police. Every officer is expected to deliver professionalism, courtesy and efficiency,” said Chief Insp Ncube.
Addressing officers and community members, Chief Insp Ncube emphasised that wearing the police badge was a call to duty and not a privilege for personal comfort.
“May I at this point speak directly to our officers and members within the Entumbane community that the badge we wear is not a licence for comfort but a call to duty. Laziness, corruption and incompetence cannot and will not define us,” she said.
She challenged officers to uphold discipline and professionalism in the execution of their duties and to serve all members of society fairly and without discrimination.
“Be disciplined in conduct, professional in action and decisive in service. The people must be served with respect regardless of their status, background, political affiliation, economic standing, gender, age or belief.
“The law must be applied fairly and without prejudice. Every report must matter, every citizen must count. The public is watching, history is recording and the standard we set today will judge us tomorrow,” said Chief Insp Ncube.
She also urged members of the public to report any dissatisfaction or complaints regarding police services, assuring them that all grievances would be thoroughly investigated.
Chief Insp Ncube said the station was committed to transparency and accountability and would take appropriate action on all complaints without fear or favour.
The launch of the client service charter forms part of the ZRP’s broader efforts to strengthen community-police relations, improve service delivery and enhance public confidence in law enforcement institutions.
