A vibrant performer from Gwanda, who has been thrilling crowds at various roadshows and events in the town, is one to watch this festive season as she promises to continue lighting up major events.

Thembelani Ndlovu who goes by her stage name BabyGal 1 Tym, is a rising Disco/Kwasa star whose energetic performances have quickly made her a favourite among audiences. This has landed her a slot on the line-up for the inaugural Chivas Festival set for December 19 in Filabusi.

Zimpapers Arts and Entertainment Hub caught up with her to trace her journey.
“I grew up and attended school in Gwanda, specifically at Thornwood Primary School, where my passion for dance began. As a member of the school’s traditional dance group, I cultivated my love for dance from a young age.

“In 2019, I turned my passion into a career by joining Bolamba Culture Birds led by Mthabisi Dube. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to share the stage with various artistes and perform at numerous events, including roadshows and several album launches,” she said.

At the Chivas Festival, BabyGal 1 Tym will share the stage with South African superstar DJ Tira, the event’s headline act, a moment she describes as a milestone in her career.
“Sharing the stage with esteemed artistes like DJ Tira is an honour and priviledge that I’ll cherish for the rest of my life. I’m excited to bring my unique energy to the Filabusi audience,” she said.

For the festival, she promised fans her signature dance moves and fresh music crafted specifically for the event.

As a local artiste, she said such platforms are essential for nurturing talent and opening doors for growth and collaboration.
“Events like these allow us to showcase our skills and inspire the next generations of artistes. I’ve prepared a special performance, incorporating unique elements that will make this an unforgettable experience for the audience.”
