LEARNERS from Hartley No. 1 Primary School in Chegutu earned praise from the Speaker of Parliament, Advocate Jacob Mudenda, after showcasing value-added products made at their school during his visit to the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education stand at the ongoing Zimbabwe International Trade Fair yesterday.
Accompanied by two student representatives, teachers from the school presented the products to Adv Mudenda during his tour of the exhibition stand on Wednesday.
The exhibition highlighted the practical skills being imparted to learners at primary school level, with pupils already participating in value addition and beneficiation of resources produced within the school environment.
Adv Mudenda commended the initiative, applauding the school for equipping learners with hands-on production skills and entrepreneurial knowledge at an early age.
He said such programmes are crucial in nurturing innovation, self-reliance and a productive mindset among young learners.
The Speaker praised both the teachers and students for demonstrating that practical education can empower children to become creators and innovators while still in school.
In recognition of the learners’ efforts and creativity, Adv Mudenda donated cash to the students as a token of appreciation.
