Hwange 1-1 Sheasham
HWANGE Football Club could not maximise on “home” advantage as they were held to a draw by fellow Castle Lager Premier Soccer League newcomers Sheasham at Luveve Stadium in Bulawayo yesterday.
It was Chipangano’s first draw of the season after two wins as well as one defeat in three opening matches and the stalemate took them to seven points. The stalemate left Sheasham still yet to win with three draws and one defeat.
Brighton Makopa, who netted Hwange’s first goal against Green Fuel last week once again put Chipangano in front in the third minute of the game, a minute after Sheesham’s McDonald Mavuto missed a clear chance in front of goal.
The visitors had a chance of levelling things in the 13th minute of the proceedings before Tafadzwa Maira equalised from the near post, 32 minutes into the game. Mavuto missed yet another chance to put Sheasham ahead three minutes after equalising but skied his effort over the bar from inside the 18-yard area.
In the second half, the match got off to a quick pace with attacks from both ends, however, none managed to hit the target. Both sides made their first changes in search of the second goal.

After missing a number of chances, Sheasham coach John Nyikadzino was impressed by the performance of his striker, Mavuto whom he believes will come good with time.
He believes that the game could have been won in the first half.
“I thought we should have won this game considering the chances that we got but I am happy with McDonald Mavuto, the way he has been getting in those positions, it’s an improvement from what was happening sometime back, thumbs up to him, I will keep on working on him until he manages to score,
I am very happy with the way he was getting on those positions,” said Nyikadzino.
His Hwange counterpart, Nation Dube was not happy with sharing the spoils as he has been putting emphasis on making use of the home advantage.
“We failed to manage our lines, we left a lot of spaces between our lines and that is how we conceded,” said Dube.
After collecting seven points from their opening four matches, Dube said they cannot read much into that and for a team coming from the First Division, they can say that they are doing something but the league is still far from them.
