ESIGODINI-bred musician Mavusani has struck the right chords, as he charmed audiences in Chinhoyi with his new song which titled “ED Development,” which praises President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s leadership, development agenda and commitment to promoting the arts.
The song, which became a crowd favourite at the Zanu-PF 23rd National Annual People’s Conference and music gala, celebrates the President’s mantra of leaving no one and no place behind.
Mavusani captivated audiences during both performances, delivering the praise anthem with passion, energy and commanding stage presence.
The performances turned the conference tent into a lively dance floor, with the musician using the platform to celebrate the inclusion of artistes from Matabeleland at a major national event.
Speaking on the sidelines of the event, after his performance, Mavusani said the Second Republic had created opportunities for musicians from the region to showcase their talent on national platforms.
He said such programmes were helping artistes turn their passion into a sustainable source of income.
“His Excellency President Mnangagwa is walking the talk. His mantra of leaving no one and no place behind is not just mere words. As artistes, we are benefiting immensely from such programmes, and we can invest our earnings in sustainable projects,” he said.
Mavusani also commended the opportunities extended to Matabeleland musicians, saying they had helped restore confidence and pride in the region’s creative sector.
“I would like to thank President Mnangagwa for giving Matabeleland artistes an equal platform with those from other provinces. This is helping restore dignity and pride in our region’s creative sector.
“Music is being transformed from a hobby into a sustainable livelihood through deliberate support for the arts and culture. We are happy that artistes are being paid on time, empowering us to become entrepreneurs and employers,” he said.
He said bringing artistes from all 10 provinces together on one stage demonstrated the importance of national cohesion, while creating opportunities for emerging musicians, particularly those from rural and marginalised communities.
“By bringing together artistes from all 10 provinces to share one stage, that is the true spirit of national cohesion. We are grateful for the opportunities being opened up for young and upcoming artistes from rural and marginalised communities,” he said.
