A former King George VI Centre student defied the odds last week when he graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Local Governance and Management, earning 20 distinctions.

Mr Tsepang Thembani Nare, 31, graduated from Midlands State University (MSU) and was among the top-performing graduates, receiving three awards in recognition of his exceptional achievements.

The Bulawayo native plans to pursue a Master’s degree in the same field, continuing his academic journey.

In a wide-ranging interview with The Chronicle on Tuesday, Mr Nare shared the challenges he faced during his studies, his aspirations for the future, and his ongoing advocacy for the upliftment of people living with disabilities.

Mr Nare uses a motorised wheelchair to move between locations and attended King George VI Centre from 1998 to 2012.

More details will be published in tomorrow’s (Wednesday) edition of The Chronicle.
