WATCH: School lessons in Bulawayo continue despite flooded waterways

LEARNERS are being forced to brave adverse weather conditions and navigate past streams and rivers to school, primarily in the western areas, as rains continue to pound the city.

Some of the waterways that learners have cross to and from school are prone to flash flooding.

On Tuesday afternoon Zimpapers observed Magwegwe High School learners crossing a stream that divides their school and suburbs such as Pumula East, Old Pumula and Pumula North.

Despite a brief stop by the persistent rains, the stream was still flowing with rainwater.

At St Peters village the rains have caused significant damage to local dusty roads that are slowly becoming impassable, making driving into the area a nightmare.

Commuter omnibus operators are avoiding the area as a such result of the ever deteriorating state of the roads, leaving intending to travel into the Bulawayo city centre stranded.

This is a developing story.
