Messages of support are pouring in for Courtney Jongwe, Zimbabwe’s proud representative at the 72nd Miss World pageant, underway in Hyderabad, India.
Courtney, who has been in India for a week, is in boot camp alongside over 100 contestants from around the globe ahead of the grand finale on May 31. Her journey is already inspiring thousands back home, and she continues to shine both on and off the stage.

Among the latest to rally behind her is Midlands Christian College, where Courtney once served as head girl. In a glowing tribute shared on Facebook, the school wrote: “We are thrilled to extend our heartfelt congratulations to our former head girl, Courtney Jongwe, as she embarks on an incredible journey to represent us at the 72nd Miss World pageant in Hyderabad, India!
“Her dedication, grace, and passion have always inspired those around her and we couldn’t be prouder of her achievements… Shine bright and make unforgettable memories. We are ecstatic for you, soar high like the eagle you are, Courtney.”
The wave of support has not stopped there. Zimbabweans across the country and in the diaspora have flooded social media with messages of encouragement, applauding her poise, intelligence, and cultural pride.
Courtney stole the spotlight at the Miss World welcome ceremony held over the weekend at Gachibowli Indoor Stadium, where she dazzled in a long brown traditional dress adorned with Zimbabwe Bird symbols and topped with a vibrant green hat, reflecting the national flag.
“The 72nd Miss World opening ceremony was an absolute success. I’m genuinely humbled and honoured to have represented our beautiful country of Zimbabwe,” Courtney shared.
She also took a moment to thank Zimbabweans for standing by her: “Thank you so much to Zimbabwe for your unwavering support. Let us keep the fire burning.”
Each contestant showcased their culture through stunning traditional outfits, transforming the opening event into a celebration of global heritage. Courtney’s outfit stood out for its symbolism and elegance, and her confident presence earned her admiration from pageant watchers worldwide.
