THORNGROVE Infectious Disease and Mpilo Central Hospitals in Bulawayo received donations of Personal Protective Equipment and food supplements from Qoki ZiNdlovukazi and I am for Bulawayo Fighting Covid-19 Trust to help fight the pandemic in the city.

Qoki ZiNdlovukazi, a women’s organisation that is based outside the country   handed over the consignment at Thorngrove Infectious Hospital on Tuesday morning which comprised of 108 boxes of disposable face masks, 100 boxes of latex gloves, 2500 disposable aprons and 25 thermometers that will be shared between the hospitals.

I am for Bulawayo Fighting Covid-19 Trust projects coordinator Pastor Elliot Mandaza said the donated food was to ensure patients also have a healthy diet as they get treatment.

“We have food stuff that we brought here to improve the diet and nutrition of patients. We have brought epap (57 by 500g), a healthy instant porridge and packs (180 by 375g) of fortified rice and soya mix that will be prepared for the patients. A healthy diet is necessary for patients that will be recovering from the virus,” he said.

Thorngrove Infectious Diseases Hospital Sister in Charge Nomazulu Dlodlo said she was grateful for the donations which came at a time when the country is faced with a new wave of Covid-19 infections.

“I would like to thank Qoki ZiNdlovukazi and I am for Bulawayo Fighting Against Covid-19 Trust for the assistance. It is testimony that you have Bulawayo at heart and particularly Thorngrove Hospital. We appreciate the food parcels too as it is important for Covid-19 patients to eat well and healthily as they recover.

“Qoki ZiNdlovukazi is an all-weather friend. They were with us when we were fighting cholera as a city and they have come in again for the Covid-19 pandemic. We thank you for your support always,” she said.

She said the PPE for the hospital staff was going to aid in protecting them as they care for admitted patients. – @NyembeziMu
