VICE President Kembo Mohadi has arrived at the Bubi-Lupane Irrigation Scheme in Matabeleland North Province, where a flourishing winter wheat crop is currently under production.
The irrigation scheme, which was commissioned by President Mnangagwa in 2023, has become a key agricultural hub supporting over 100 farmers engaged in the production of winter wheat, maize and other cash crops throughout the year.

The visit by the Vice President comes as Government continues to scale up irrigation development as part of efforts to boost food security, climate resilience and rural industrialisation.
Also part of the tour are; Minister of Agriculture, Mechanisation and Water Resources Development, Dr Anxious Masuka and Agricultural and Rural Development Authority (ARDA) chief executive officer Tinotenda Mhiko.

The Bubi-Lupane Irrigation Scheme has been identified as one of the strategic agricultural projects contributing to year-round production, enabling farmers to diversify crops beyond rain-fed agriculture and improve household incomes.
Government has in recent years prioritised irrigation development as a key pillar in achieving food security under the National Development Strategy, with emphasis on empowering rural communities through sustainable agricultural infrastructure.
