Zimbabwean leather products stole the spotlight at the Global Expo Botswana 2025, which concluded on Friday, attracting buyers and members of the public impressed by the craftsmanship, unique designs, and high quality.
Leather production represents a strategic opportunity for Zimbabwe, given the country’s comparative advantage in the livestock leather value chain. The Government, in collaboration with key leather sector stakeholders, is focused on scaling production to satisfy domestic demand and drive exports across the region and beyond.

Among the 20 Zimbabwean companies at the expo, King’s Leather received glowing feedback and forged potential partnerships in Gaborone.
“Let me start by appreciating the Global Expo for organising such a great event. It was eye-opening for us. We have been exposed to so many opportunities across Africa,” said Mr Ronald Hulu, representing King’s Leather at the expo.
“Our main goal at the Global Expo was to explore opportunities for sustainable partnerships with Botswana. Africa is one, rich in resources that are still underutilised.
Through collaboration, we can amplify our voice globally and expand exports from Africa to continents like Asia and America. The Global Expo provided an invaluable platform to learn and understand how best to navigate these economic opportunities.”
Zimbabwean leather exhibitors highlighted that events like the Global Expo Botswana not only enhance trade linkages but also position Zimbabwe as a key player in Africa’s growing leather market.
