The power of social media was on full display earlier this month when 23-year-old Midlands State University student, Standrick Chagadama, became an overnight sensation for his hilarious and unfiltered video interviews at a Doek and Shine event in Zvishavane.
A final-year student studying Radio and Television in Multimedia Studies, Chagadama captivated online audiences with his witty, street-style interviews under his social media alias, @Cnigga. His approach, raw, humorous, and unapologetically real, featured candid questions that ranged from the number of drinks consumed, whether patrons were drunk, to their overall impressions of the inaugural event. The female revellers’ unscripted responses made the clips go viral, quickly gaining momentum across platforms.
“My content is about capturing the moment as it is, raw, honest, and fun,” said Chagadama. “That’s what people relate to.”
But behind the viral fame is a young creative with serious credentials. Chagadama has worked with reputable publications such as The Sunday Mail, penning front-page stories that speak to his journalistic chops and storytelling prowess.
His online coverage of the Doek and Shine show at Mtonjeni Gardens in Zvishavane, which caught the attention of leading media outlets, showed that he is onto something.
“That story marked the beginning of my successful media career,” he said.

More than just a content creator, Chagadama is an ambitious entrepreneur. He is in the process of registering his own media house, 7 Dimensions Media. Despite being in its early stages, the venture already boasts a blogspot and original news coverage handled entirely by Chagadama himself.
“My goal is to cover national events and grow my media company into a trusted name in Zimbabwean media,” he said.
