Motorists and travellers on Wednesday morning woke up to a flooded Mtshabezi River leaving many stranded.

The river became flooded after heavy rains pounded the area overnight. More rains are expected in the coming days.

The district Civil Protection Committee has issued a warning to motorists and pedestrians not to cross the river while flooded.

The bridge which is low lying has been a great inconvenience to motorists and pedestrians who have been stuck at the crossing point on several occasions during the rainy season.

A make shift foot bridge which pedestrians usually turn to when the bridge is flooded was also damaged.
