WATCH:Zimbabwe Advanced Level pass rate rises to 95.75 percent

THE Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (Zimsec) has released the 2025 Advanced level result with an almost 100 percent pass rate, particularly from school candidates.

Announcing the results on Thursday afternoon, Zimsec board chairperson Professor Paul Mapfumo said the percentage pass rate was 95.75 percent, an increase of 1.17 percent from the 2024 results.

Prof Mapfumo said a total of 36 635 candidates sat for the examinations, compared to 33 585 in 2024, an increase of 3 050 candidates.
He added that 36 282 candidates wrote two or more subjects, and of these, 34 740 obtained a grade E or better, translating into a national pass rate of 95.75 percent. “In comparison, the pass rate in November 2024 was 94.58 percent, showing an improvement of 1.17 percent this year.
The ZIMSEC chairperson also highlighted the performance of school candidates, who continue to outperform private candidates.

“Out of 31 451 school candidates who sat for the November 2025 examinations, 31 296 wrote two or more subjects. Of these, 30 169 obtained a grade E or better, achieving a pass rate of 96.39 percent,” Professor Mapfumo said.
