A Harare water dealer who filed an application at the High Court in September last year over the closure of his company which supplies bulk water to residents without running water, has won the case and resumed operations.
Laubscher Services, trading as LS Waters, accused the Zimbabwe National Water Authority (zinwa), Ministry of Environment, Water and Climate and the Upper Manyame Sub-Catchment Council (UMCC) chief hydrologist Mr Robert Mutepfa and Engineer Munashe Mvura of causing the closure of the business.
Harare lawyer Mr Obert Mawadze of Messrs Manase and Manase, who represented LS Waters said in an interview yesterday that the case was later heard at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts as a criminal case where one of its directors Mr Johannes Laubscher appeared.
“LS Waters was, in November last year, charged for contravening the Water Act and over abstraction of water among other charges,” said Mr Mawadze.
“The case was heard last month at Harare Magistrates’ Courts and LS Waters was acquitted of all four counts and was found not guilty by magistrate Mr Tendai Mahwe.”
Mr Laubscher confirmed that his water delivery company won all the court cases and resumed operations on December 24 last year.
The water supply company can now be seen delivering bulk water as normal to residents in need.
