Mr Mundenda said that the institution had also been affected by burst water pipes.
He said the hospital had resorted to using back-up tanks.

“We have back-up tanks which carry 40 000 litres of water each thereby assisting the hospital for 48 hours.  Nurses also use hand sanitisers before getting in contact with a patient.”

Mr Mundenda said the back-up tanks assist in the kitchens, toilets and dialysis.  Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals spokesperson Ms Jane Dadzi, however, said the water shortages did not affect the hospital operations.

“What affects Harare City also affects us because the whole city has no water but this does not affect the hospital operations since UNICEF assists us if there is a crisis.”
