SIMBA Bhora coach Tonderai Ndiraya yesterday said his team should not be counted in the relegation matrix yet following their narrow win over fellow Castle Lager Premiership new boys Shesham at Baobab yesterday.

The Shamva side bagged maximum points courtesy of a 64th minute strike from Tymon Machope. The win freed them from the relegation zone after jumping two places up to position 13th.

The win was a big relief to Ndiraya and his boys. Simba Bhora had not won in their last four games, which had started with a defeat to Chicken Inn and successive draws against Dynamos, Yadah and Hwange.

“I don’t know if we can say we are fighting relegation or not because there are still quite a number of games to play,” said an elated Ndiraya.

“At the moment if we become consistent, then we may end up being at least halfway or in the top half. So let’s see what happens in the next few weeks. We are left with 11 games, which translates to 33 points. That’s quite a lot.

“There is still a long way to go, if you ask me. Of course, after next weekend we will then start to count down the final stretch, the last 10 games. So for us it’s a matter of getting good results and notching some points on the board consistently. I think we have been quite consistent in recent matches,” said Ndiraya.

His opposite number Lizwe Sweswe was a worried man as a serious lack of consistency continued to haunt his team. Sheasham, who had also previously lost to another Premiership newcomers Greenfuel, are currently lodged third from the bottom of the table with 23 points. Simba now have 26 points.

“I think it’s about character; tough games and obviously we are going to be fighting relegation and it was always going to be tough in this game since we are in the same scenario with Simba.

“But I thought, a point was going to be better. It’s time these boys just up their game, especially in terms of football management,” said Sweswe.
