We are not under pressure: Bosso midfielder

AS Highlanders prepare for their Sunday showdown against Scottland FC at Barbourfields Stadium, midfielder Mason Mushore insists that the team is not feeling any pressure ahead of the game.

Mushore who appears to have cemented his place in Bosso’s midfield late last season, showed no signs of intimidation ahead of the game as he addressed members of the media yesterday.

“We just focus on each game as it comes. Every game we play is a big game to us. We just want to do our job and try to fight on the field to bring results. We don’t have pressure. We are Highlanders, and we can win the game. We can do it. We just have to play our normal game. We have to stay calm and play for the badge and the fans,” said Mushore.

The match promises to be an exciting encounter, with both teams boasting a wealth of talent. While Scottland has caught the eye of many with their expensively assembled team, Bosso will be hoping to leverage their experience and recent team bonding to secure a positive result.

Mushore, who has been integral in midfield for Highlanders, is ready for the challenge, believing that if they stick to their game plan and execute it well, they have what it takes to overcome their more fancied opponents

The team is likely to be bolstered by several new signings since the transfer ban has been lifted, with players like Marlvern Hativagoni and Never Rauzhi expected to strengthen the squad.

These additions, along with the promotion of younger players such as Luckmore Mutumbi and the arrival of Mafious Junior Chiweta, signal the club’s commitment to building for the future while also aiming for immediate success.

Highlanders recently concluded a week-long camp in Beitbridge, where they enjoyed victories in friendly matches against lower division teams, Bishopstone and Dulibadzimu.

An 8-0 thumping of Bishopstone was the highlight, with braces from Nigel Banda, Tendayi Muvuti and Nqobile Ndlovu, as well as goals from Never Rauzhi and Gillian Nyathi.

The team also triumphed 2-1 over Dulibadzimu, with Brighton “MaNinja” Ncube scoring twice. The camp allowed the team to address mistakes from their earlier league games and iron out other issues thereby setting them up for what they hope will be a successful clash with Scottland.

Highlanders captain Ariel Sibanda reflected on the camp, saying it gave the team a chance to correct errors made in their opening three games.

Despite earning four points from one win and one draw, there were moments when mistakes cost them.

However, with a refreshed squad and a clear focus, Bosso will be eager to make a strong statement in front of their passionate fans this weekend.

Meanwhile, fans will have the chance to witness future stars in action as a curtain-raiser between Highlanders FC Under-17 and Thandanani FC Under-17 is set for Sunday at Barbourfields before the main match pitting Highlanders FC and Scottland FC.

Kicking off at 11 am, the young players are expected to provide extra entertainment before the big game.
With gates opening at 10 am fans will have ample time to soak in the atmosphere before the action begins.
