‘We have to attack from the onset’

HIGHLANDERS interim coach Try Ncube says his side must start aggressively and avoid any hint of complacency against Triangle at Barbourfields this afternoon.

Following a frustrating outing against Scottland over the weekend, which saw the Bulawayo giants failing to collect at least a point, Bosso are desperate to bounce back.

“We are playing at home and we just have to attack from the onset and try and unsettle our opponents,” said Ncube. He was speaking at the club’s weekly press conference on Wednesday.

“Yes, we can say maybe our opponents Triangle are struggling because of their position on the log but they are actually fighting to survive. They are a dangerous team to face and we have to guard against complacency.”

Highlanders came under scrutiny after a solid performance failed to yield victory against Scottland, leaving them under pressure to respond against Triangle.

“You can say we had a strong performance against Scottland but it doesn’t mean anything because we failed to get three points. So we have to get a result against Triangle. We have to maintain the consistency.”

Bosso will, however, be without their captain and defensive stalwart Andrew Mbeba, who was forced off during the Scottland clash with what appeared to be an ankle injury.

“We are still waiting for a report from the doctor following the scans done and then we will know the full extent of the injury,” Ncube said.

“Mbeba will definitely be missed, but we have able replacements. We just hope the guys that will come in will step up because he is our leader.”

Ncube spoke about the growing fixture congestion

“There is a lot of pressure with so many games in a space of a week, but we are trying to balance between load and recovery so that when players approach these games, they are fresh and raring to go,” said Ncube.

In other matches set for this afternoon, Dynamos will welcome Manica Diamonds at Rufaro Stadium while Bikita Minerals host Scottland at Gibbo Stadium.

Thursday Fixtures:

Dynamos v Manica Diamonds (Rufaro), Highlanders v Triangle (Barbourfields), Bikita Minerals v Scottland (Gibbo)
