A MARRIED woman on Friday failed in her bid for a protection order against her husband, whom he accused of sexual abuse.

Janette Sanu also accused her husband, Richard Mubaiwa, of physical and verbal abuse.

However, Sanu failed to convince Harare magistrate Tamara Chibindi and the application was dismissed.

During the court hearing, Sanu said:

“I want a protection order because my husband is abusing me physically and verbally.

“He is saying that all our children are not his, and he wants to evict all of us.

“He forces me to have sexual intercourse and he gave me an STI.”

She added:

“He recently assaulted me and left my teeth shaking.

“He also destroyed my valuables and sold some of them.”

In response, Mubaiwa disputed the allegations and told the court that he no longer loves his wife.

“In terms of forcing her to have sex, she is lying, we can go for a year without having sexual intercourse.

“I no longer love her; she is refusing my divorce token kuonda kudai ndiye mukadzi uyu.

“She went to South Africa for five years and came back last year.

Ndiye akatondipa chirwere chepabonde,” said Mubaiwa.
