CAPS United coach Lloyd Chitembwe says the Green Machine will be very competitive this season after a nightmarish campaign last year.
Makepekepe begin their latest campaign with a home game against Manica Diamonds at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday.
“Last year things were not good for us,” Chitembwe, who is CAPS United’s most decorated son, told H-Metro.
“Obviously, the opportunity to change the narrative is available this season.
“We are bringing in some players whom we think have a good chance of competing.
“CAPS will never change, there’s a way they view the season, it will never change.
“We want to be very competitive, win games.”
Last season, the Green Machine’s campaign was marred by well-documented financial challenges, which resulted in the former champions being sucked into the relegation matrix.
However, the club’s chiefs have found a way to replenish their financial resources and the team has been enjoying a very good time in the build-up to the start of the new Castle Lager Premiership season.

The Green Machine confirmed signing Tanaka Koni from Guruve United on a permanent transfer.
Kelvin Madzongwe, Tafadzwa ‘Fire’ Rusike, Godknows ‘Zizou’ Murwira, Adrian Silla, Innocent Zambezi, Admiral Matope, King Nadolo, Ashley Reyners and Bekimpilo Ncube are some of the club’s new signings.
Last season’s Soccer Star of the Year first runner up, and the league top goal-scorer William Manondo, chose to stay put at CAPS.
In an interview with ZTN Prime, in the countdown to the start of the league, Madondo said he has the capacity of scoring 30 league goals this season.
It’s a huge task but the club’s fans will argue that if he won the Golden Boot last year, in a tough working environment, what can stop him doubling his tally, should things remain stable at Makepekepe?
