MORE than 400 young people from six villages in Ward 13, Tsholotsho, gathered at Ngqoya Hall on Friday for a youth interface focused on practical ways they can contribute to the realisation of Vision 2030.

Held under the theme, “Creating Rural Industry, Employing Youth, Achieving Vision 2030,” the event brought together youths from Manzimahle, Sipingwini, Lupinde, Mguzana, Ntulani and host village Ngqoya.

Discussions focused on translating Vision 2030 into tangible results at community level through entrepreneurship, job creation, rural industrialisation and the productive use of locally available resources. Participants adopted ward-level resolutions outlining practical steps young people can take to contribute to national development and improve livelihoods in their communities.

In a conversation with the convenor, Mr Tedious Ncube, who is also a youth from Ward 13, he said the interface was intended to give young people a platform to discuss their role in achieving Vision 2030 and identify practical initiatives that could drive development in their communities.

The event was also attended by Ward 13 leadership, including ZANU-PF leaders and chairpersons of the party’s various wings, who made presentations on party policies and youth participation in national development.

Senior ZANU-PF Youth League members from Matabeleland North Province also attended. Cde Babethi Ndlovu, a provincial member of the Youth League, presented on projects being implemented by the league and explained how young people could participate. Cde Tracey, the Provincial Secretary for Information and Publicity in the ZANU-PF Youth League in Matabeleland North Province, was also present.

Youth League ward chairpersons from across Tsholotsho attended in support of the initiative, demonstrating collaboration among young leaders across the district.

Ward 13 Main Wing Chairperson Cde Ndaniso Mpofu commended the turnout, noting that he had never witnessed such a large gathering made up entirely of young people.

Different delegates interviewed at the event welcomed the initiative, describing it as an important platform for young people to engage with leadership, learn about ongoing programmes and discuss practical ways of contributing to Vision 2030. They called for more youth interfaces across Tsholotsho to ensure that young people from different communities are included in development discussions and have opportunities to turn their ideas into action.

The youths also pledged their support for President Emmerson Mnangagwa and expressed their commitment to contributing to the country’s development agenda.

The interface concluded with an emphasis on turning discussions into practical action, with the resolutions providing a basis for young people to pursue initiatives in entrepreneurship, employment creation and local production to help realise Vision 2030 in Ward 13.
