Lovemore Dube in Gweru
SHEASHAM Football Club coach Lizwe Sweswe says they will not be fooled by the alleged Dynamos FC in-house problems when the two teams clash in a Castle Lager Premiership tie at Bata Stadium, Gweru on Sunday.
Dynamos fired head coach Herbert Maruwa last week and replaced him with his former assistant Genesis Mangombe.
Mangombe had a flying start with a 1-0 win over Simba Bhora in a Chibuku Super Cup first round match at Barbourfields Stadium last Saturday.
“Dynamos may appear to have problems but one should not be fooled into believing that the situation will affect what is happening on the pitch. We will not read anything into that, we will go into the match prepared,” said Sweswe on the sidelines of a press conference at Gweru Sports Club yesterday.
The match comes against a background where Sheasham have beaten defending champions FC Platinum in recent weeks and felled another giant Chicken Inn who were second last year.
Complacency could turn out to be the club’s biggest opponent. It’s natural that their tails are up after such a good run following a situation where eight weeks ago, relegation was written all over their faces.
A number of victories, the ability to score and defend consistently have left the Gweru community believing that the club will survive.
Club vice president Happiness Dziva says anything is possible on Sunday.
“FC Platinum are the defending champions, Chicken Inn were runners-up and we beat them. Dynamos are up next,” said Dzviva.
He said the club was ready for the match against Dynamos.
“At least now we know what to expect, against Highlanders we did well and now come Game 19 we are prepared, it’s all systems go,” said Dziva who added that they would have Wi-Fi coverage for their facility available even for fans come Sunday.
He said this time next year, their facility will be among the best in the country.
