WECRE8TE is hosting a poetry show on 17 February at Garden Court in Bulawayo to celebrate the month of love and empower young poets.

WeCre8te is an initiative launched by SoxThePoet that was founded in 2023 to mentor, and empower young people and develop their creative and technical skills. The event is themed “love, hate and everything in between.”

In an interview, the secretary of WeCre8te, Nomqhele Nkomo said the goal of the event is to showcase their different skills and educate people on poetry.

“The event is a launch of the initiative and an opportunity to market our brand to the general public. We will be having a number of poets performing at the event.

“Our goal is to bring together different people to come in and learn about our organisation and the work that we are doing,” said Nkomo.

She said the key message the event will be spreading is about love.

“The key message is about love and we want to show the audience some important facts about it. Love is a good thing but there are a number of challenges associated with it that affect our mental, physical and social wellbeing.

“We want people to realise that poetry rejuvenates spirits and heals souls,” said Nkomo.

She promised fans a wonderful show and urged them to come out in numbers to support the young poets.

“The show will allow us to take the audience through a roller coaster ride of emotions and we promise our fans that they will have a wonderful and power packed session,” said Nkomo.
