THE Castle Lager Premier Soccer League returns with Matchday 20 action this weekend, with Chicken Inn and Highlanders both facing tricky assignments as the second half of the season gathers momentum.
The round will get underway on Friday when Scottland FC play host to Manica Diamonds at Rufaro before attention shifts to Saturday when Bulawayo giants Highlanders and Chicken Inn will be looking forward to collecting maximum points and strengthening their respective campaigns.
Highlanders travel to Ngoni Stadium in Norton for a potentially difficult encounter against MWOS FC. Bosso, who settled for a 1-1 draw against rivals Dynamos in the Battle of Zimbabwe last weekend, will be seeking maximum points to keep pace with the leading pack.
The Bulawayo giants have shown signs of improvement under coach Benjani Mwaruwari, but face a stern test against a MWOS side that has proved difficult to beat at home. Bosso supporters will also be hoping for greater cutting edge in front of goal after their side shared the spoils with DeMbare at Barbourfields last weekend
At Luveve Stadium, Chicken Inn will play host to free-spending Hardrock in what promises to be an intriguing affair. The Gamecocks will enjoy home advantage and will be eager to return to more winning ways after a mixed run of results in recent weeks.
Chicken Inn coach Tonderayi Ndiraya is expected to rely on his experienced players as the 2015 champions seek to climb up the table. Under Kelvin Kaindu, Hardrock, however, have shown resilience this season and is likely to provide stubborn opposition.
Other Saturday fixtures will see 2024 champions Simba Bhora hosting TelOne at Wadzanayi, ZPC Kariba welcoming Ngezi Platinum Stars to Nyamhunga, FC Platinum will entertain FC Hunters at Mandava Stadium and CAPS United taking on Triangle United at Rufaro.
The Matchday 20 programme concludes on Sunday with Agama FC facing Herentals College at Wadzanayi, while Dynamos entertain Bulawayo Chiefs at Rufaro.
