IT’S shaping up to be a perfect-weather weekend, with loads of entertainment for those who like to have good times roll in Bulawayo. The weekend kicks off with a free public concert at Bulawayo Centre. The show organised by the Alliance de Francaise will see some of Bulawayo’s budding artistes commemorating the World Music Day in style at the shopping mall.
Top acts at the gig are all female group, Nobuntu, Soul artiste Brian “Rakeem” Bangura, Rainbow Blaze Marimba, “Kwanfire” Asaph and a whole lot of other acts from Bulawayo.
The show kicks off at 12pm.
While some will be commemorating World Music day, traditional dance groups will be squaring it up at the Chibuku Neshamwari Traditional dance finals at Manor Hotel tomorrow.
Nine groups from Bulawayo will be showcasing the country’s ethnic traditional dances in the competition.
The major highlight of the weekend is the Miss Bulawayo pageant where 26 beauties will battle it out for the city’s coveted crown.
The event would be held at the Rainbow Hotel tomorrow evening.
The event would be held under the theme Vinter Wintage.
Entertainment would be provided by the ever hilarious Babongile Skhonjwa, hip-hop group Alchemy and female dance group the Divas.
Afro and township jazz maestro, Bob “Headmaster” Nyabinde is set to rekindle his love affair with Bulawayo fans when he performs at Cape to Cairo tomorrow.
The jazz crooner famed for the track Chabuda Hapana comes to Bulawayo after a somewhat long sabbatical.
The joint is working on reviving its jazz sessions by hosting some of the big acts in the music genre this winter.
Newly opened Club Vegas 999 this weekend hosts Harare based rhumba dancers, the Dangerous Queens.
The 2012 best Rhumba dancers are set to give revellers a good run for their money as they bring in some exquisite dances from the Democratic Republic of Congo where they have been based.
