It’s a new month and the fun doesn’t stop.
Here is our weekend guide on some of the events taking place across the world.
Soja Bula
The trio of Dereck Mpofu, Pah Chihera, and Evans Mapfumo are set to ignite Londoners Public House, Harare, tomorrow.
Dereck Mpofu is popular for his “Mari (Unonaka Iwe)” track, which made him a darling to many for hits such as “Chisikana Changu,” “Zimbabwe,” “Ndinokakama” has encouraged his fans to come in their numbers.
Over the years since starting, running with the moniker, Godobori, he has amassed a huge following on social media and gained international recognition.
The artiste recently also performed at the World Health Organisation (WHO) for the Stop TB Summit.
Pah Chihera, who has proven she is not only a musician but also a chef par excellence after starting her catering business, is a woman of many talents.
Evans “Pfumela” Mapfumo is also a singer, songwriter and guitarist.
Pfumela, as he is affectionately known, also plays as a creative arts activist and is known for songs such as “Ndanga Ndakarasika’,” “Torai Nguva” and “Afamba Apota” among others. He will be performing live.
Stellar cast at The Love Project- Season 16 launch
The much-publicised gospel concert, dubbed The Love Project Season 16, by Zimpraise Ensemble will see local top gospel acts, among them Dorcas Moyo, Pastor G, Everton Mlalazi, Kuda Mutsvene, Jonah Chivasa, Benjamin Rupapa, and The Unveiled, sharing the stage with Zimpraise Ensemble.
The show, scheduled for tomorrow at Harare Gardens, will see the choir celebrating its 16th anniversary and will feature renowned comedian “Vasembwe”, popular to his fans as “Tha Slick Pastor- Nigel.”
Mind your language show set
Reps Theatre, in Harare, is hosting Andrew Manyika for a night of comedy and poetry tomorrow evening, with doors opening at 1800hrs for literature and comedy fans.
The show has been dubbed “Mind your Language.”
Manyika is set to create and capture moments and memories, as he thrills the crowd with literal knowledge infused with a great sense of humour. For an evening of laughter make your way to Reps Theatre.
Toxic Saturday with Merciless Zim
A tradition set to be a culture in the mining town of Shamva, Toxic Saturday will become a regular feature at Club Ladore every Saturday.
This will put the mining town on the map, proving that entertainment knows no bounds, igniting and setting alight Shamva.
Miss CUT pageant on this weekend
“Nokusingaperi” hitmaker, Nyasha David is set to thrill fans at the Great Hall in Chinhoyi, as catwalk queens battle for royalty in the Miss Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT) pageant.
MC’s French and Ancient will host the event with the support from “CUT Got Talent’, as the parades on the catwalk continue.
Jah Prayzah and 3G the band hype Marondera
Chipiwa Gardens Kwa Masaiti hosts and presents musician Jah Prayzah and his band in Marondera, with the show starting at 1900hrs.
Revellers will be spoilt for choice as sungura fans will be treated to some Faheem Somanje and Pengaudzoke sounds, who will be supporting the event.
Marondera-based Trymore Maka and the King Express, affectionately known to his fans as “Mwana Marondera”, will thrill his faithful and guests as he continues to break new ground.
DJ M Squared will be on the decks and Mc Codro will host the event while engaging revellers as they mix and mingle on Saturday.
Johannesburg Zimdancehall Entertainment this Saturday
Local reggae, dancehall, afro beats, hip hop and amapiano-infused music will rock Yeoville, South Africa, tomorrow.
Sir Kenny, Lion Vibration, TK, Sir Aja and Mc T Boss will be jamming the music non-stop, while Wizzy will host the show.
This is set to be a tradition as Zimbabwean dancehall penetrates the South African market, gradually creating an impact as the events will be done every Thursday and Saturday.
It will be good music, good vibes and happy people, as Zimbabweans in South Africa meet to party and network.
Amplifying Our Culture
Forum Birmingham is set to host an array of Zimbabwean musicians on Sunday in the Zim Link up Bank Holiday Weekender.
Performances will be from controversial hip hop star Holy Ten, “Raroorwa” hitmaker Enzo Ishall, Vroom noisemaker Nutty O, the rehabilitated “Wanga Usingade” chanter Saintfloew, Zim dancehall chanter Freeman HKD and Mr Putit aka ExQ.
The event, dubbed Amplifying our Culture, is aimed at promoting cultural exchange as well as having Zimbabweans abroad connect to their roots through music. The gig starts at 2200hrs.
Zim Cultural Expo
Rareharare, in partnership with The Narrativ House and W Hotels, proudly presents “Zimbabwe Day”, a vibrant event set to take place at the iconic W Hotel in Times Square, New York City, tomorrow.
This unique celebration, held in conjunction with Zimbabwe Day, will feature an array of traditional games, captivating music and heartfelt tributes to influential Zimbabwean figures across various industries.
Attendees will be immersed in a rich tapestry of Zimbabwean culture and have the opportunity to connect with fellow Zimbabweans and supporters, fostering unity within the global Zimbabwean community.
“At Rareharare, we are embarking on a ground-breaking mission to initiate “The Great Return” — an initiative aimed at inviting the Zimbabwean diaspora to their homeland, with a vision to drive economic growth, foster cultural reconnection, and harness the expertise of Zimbabwean professionals for the betterment of the country,” said Rareharare official Edward Itai Meck.
“This event, alongside The Narrativ House and its founder, Zimbabwean designer Farai Simoyi, symbolises a celebration of cultural unity and the empowerment of the Zimbabwean diaspora. We extend a warm invitation, not only to the Zimbabwean diaspora, but also to the international community, welcoming all who share our passion for embracing diversity, fostering unity, and celebrating the rich cultural tapestry of Zimbabwe.”
In addition to the festivities, the event will spotlight Rareharare’s impactful initiatives, including the Power Players Index and the Letter of Intent campaign, both aimed at showcasing solidarity and expressing the intention to visit Zimbabwe in December 2025.
The Power Players Index will unveil an online database showcasing influential Zimbabwean figures across various industries.
He said the Letter of Intent (LOI) aims to gather support from influential individuals and corporations, as well as the general public, to express their desire and intent to visit Zimbabwe in December 2025, laying the foundation for a mass migration back to Zimbabwe.
Rareharare will also curate a series of intimate and large-scale events to promote “The Great Return” initiative, including intimate dinners, mixers, and parties, providing opportunities for Zimbabweans to connect and amplify the message of cultural reconnection and revitalisation.
The pinnacle of the initiative will be the Great Return 2025, inviting hundreds of influential figures from around the world to Zimbabwe in December 2025, marking the kick-off for a mass migration back to the homeland.
