Wenger assures Podolski

LONDON. – Arsene Wenger has promised Arsenal striker Lukas Podolski will get the chance to make some starts for the first team soon.

The Germany international has been frozen out of Wenger’s starting XIs so far this season, such is the wealth of attacking options at the Gunners’ disposal.

Despite being overlooked on the domestic front, Podolski made an excellent impression when he helped himself to a double in Arsenal’s 4-1 win over Galatasaray in the Champions League in midweek.

Although Podolski is behind the likes of Danny Welbeck, Olivier Giroud and Alexis Sanchez in the pecking order at the Emirates, Wenger has indicated Podolski will get more opportunities in the first team soon.

“He’s getting back to form and there’s a lot of competition up front,” Wenger said. – The Express.
