Wenger missed on Sterling

LONDON. — Arsene Wenger has admitted Arsenal missed out on the chance to sign Raheem Sterling before he joined Liverpool in 2010. The Manchester City star was a highly rated youth prospect at Queens Park Rangers in 2010.

But left London and moved to Liverpool aged 16 for around £500 000.

Sterling joins the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Yaya Toure in players the Gunners boss was keen on signing.

And ahead of the 21-year-old’s City side arriving at the Emirates tonight for the top-of-the-table clash, Wenger revealed he was keeping tabs on Sterling at QPR.

He said: “We had many players on the flanks, but Sterling was at QPR – that’s where we should take the players.” — The Daily Express.
