Wenger sets deadline

LONDON. — Arsene Wenger has backed himself to guide Arsenal back to English Premier League soccer glory within the next three years. The Frenchman has come under increasing pressure at the Emirates after presiding over the Gunners’ worst start to a season in 32 years.

However, despite the negativity and a large section of fans calling for his removal from the dugout, Wenger insists he can reclaim the league title he last won in 2004 before his contract expires in 2017.

Asked if his squad can be champions within the next three years, he replied: “Of course I am convinced. We have not started very well but we never had the squad together since the start of the season. It was a post- World Cup start. I think we have what is requested to do it.” — Metro.
