Wenger urged to spend

LONDON. — Arsene Wenger has been urged to complete a signing to give Arsenal fans a much-needed lift.

The Gunners boss has landed just two new faces so far this summer – Switzerland international midfielder Granit Xhaka arrived from Borussia Monchengladbach before Euro 2016 while Japanese forward Takuama Asano has been earmarked as one for the future.

Wenger is chasing a striker but was snubbed by Jamie Vardy while Arsenal face a battle with Juventus for Napoli hotshot Gonzalo Higuain.

They have also been linked with a number of defenders including Roma’s Kostas Manolas.

And Gunners legend David Seaman thinks up to three signings — including another new midfielder — are needed to strengthen the spine of the team. — The Daily Star.
