ONE of Harare’s top wheel-spinners, Dj Walle, has lamented the lack of unity among local deejays.
He said the lack of unity was the reason why local deejays have failed to make the progress they should have made and are not valued the way they are supposed to be.
He also feels it is the reason local DJs have not made an impact in foreign countries.
“I feel we lack unity as deejays in Zimbabwe and that has made it difficult to make collective progress.
It’s a dog-eat-dog situation and that only benefits a few and yet we are supposed to be building and putting in place structures that benefit the majority.
“I call out all deejays, me included, for us to learn to unite for the majority to benefit from it and also get recognition in other countries.
“We continue to operate in survival mode, something that does not bring progress.
“Only when we come together can the majority start to benefit,” he said.
Despite the challenges, DJ Walle said it’s the passion of deejaying and the love for music that has kept him going over the years.
Dj Walle spins the decks at the Q Bar on Thursdays.
The show has been dubbed ‘Throwback Thursdays.’
On Saturdays he plays alongside Taylor and Miss April during the ‘Saucey Saturdays’.
