NGEZI Platinum Stars coach, Kumbirai Mutiwekuziva, says they will be underdogs when they host champions Scottland in a Castle Lager Premier League match at Baobab on Saturday.
However, Mutiwekuziva remains confident that teamwork, belief and support can inspire them to a positive result against the championship leaders.
“It is a big match and a challenging task ahead,” he said.
“They are the current leaders and they are in a good form but we have to compete to the best of our ability as a team and take advantage of playing at home.
“We are the underdogs going into the match, with Scottland being the favourites, but we have to put in the work and see what happens after 90 minutes.
“We need to keep a positive mindset going into the game, have confidence and work as a team with the help of our supporters.
“We understand that it is going to be a tough match considering the quality of players they have and the form they are in.”
He added:
“Winning away against FC Platinum was a big morale-booster.
“We look forward to the coming games being more confident and more determined to produce positive results.
“We are happy with what we have achieved so far as a club and what the boys have done in the league.
“We look forward to continuing to work hard and achieving better things in the upcoming games and competitions.”
Ngezi’s preparations for the second half of the season have been complicated by a transfer ban that prevents the club from strengthening their squad during the mid-season window.
“We understand that we are not going to add any new players due to the ban but we are confident and taking the challenge as it is.
“There is nothing we can do at the moment until we complete the necessary procedures to have the ban lifted.
“But, with hard work, training and commitment, I think we are able to achieve and overcome any obstacles that we might come across,” he said.
