Were you fooled?

goldChronicle Reporter
CHRONICLE was yesterday inundated by calls from fortune seekers demanding details on the gold rush at Luna Park grounds at the corner of Masotsha Ndlovu and Athlone Avenues.
The story was an April Fools’ Day prank.
Observant readers should have got a clue from the name of the person who reportedly found gold at Luna Park, Solomon Manyepo. The surname is Shona for lies. Sports readers were also not spared as the story about an Indian coach taking over at Highlanders was also a hoax. The clue was also in the name Mhangabhani Neyma.

The first name is a creative variation of the Ndebele word manga bani, meaning “what lies” and the second is a variation of nhema, meaning lies as well.
