CAPS United fullback Wesley Milanzi’s debut season at the Harare giants has memorable highlights, but the club’s inconsistent run brings a bitter-sweet feeling to it.
The 22-year-old’s performances have established him as one of the most promising players in the Premiership.
His growing importance was particularly highlighted mid-season when he attracted attention from neighbouring South Africa along with Juan Mutudza.
Despite the speculation that he may still be on the radar of foreign and local teams, Milanzi says his focus and loyalty for now lie with CAPS United.
“My attention is fully on CAPS United,” said Milanzi.
“I am committed to the Green Machine and to finishing this season as strongly as I started. Everything else is just noise for now.”
CAPS United played to a 1-1 draw with Chicken Inn at Luveve on Saturday. And at 39 points, they have almost survived the chop.
“The point was crucial as we wanted to avoid dropping points on the road. It was a tough match as all teams wanted to pick up points,” he said.
“But as a team, we have had a difficult season, but we worked through the difficult phase. We are delighted that the team managed to keep good faith and unity during the phase.
“Now we are looking to finish strongly and finish with momentum. It is difficult to play with pressure due to the relegation fight.”
A point or full points will confirm CAPS United’s safety.
