West Properties has donated US$100 000 towards the establishment of a popcorn factory, aimed at providing ongoing support for the beneficiaries of the Commissioner Goodwill Trust Fund Golf Tournament.

This funding reflects the company’s commitment to corporate social responsibility.

The programme, initiated in 2011, was developed out of concern for children and spouses left behind after the loss of their guardians and parents.

In a speech read by West Properties public relations manager Mr Michael Chideme, the firm’s CEO Mr Ken Sharpe emphasised the importance of the Commissioner Goodwill Trust Fund in safeguarding the lives of orphans and vulnerable individuals.

“It is encouraging to see the proceeds of the programme yielding fruits at various levels. The fund is helping to unlock potential and restore dignity through improved mobility,” he said.

Commissioner Goodwill Trust Fund chairperson Mr Farai Rwodzi expressed appreciation for the donation, highlighting its significant impact on improving the lives of beneficiaries. “The fund has managed to address gender disparities up to the tertiary level. We greatly appreciate the donation.

“It will continue improving the lives of beneficiaries. Stakeholders should come on board and put their hands together for benevolence,” he said.

Since its inception, the fund has assisted 450 beneficiaries, with 269 having successfully completed their studies.
