BULAWAYO based rugby club Western Panthers were soundly beaten by log leaders Old Hararians losing 0-53 at Hartsfield Ground on Saturday.
Coach George ‘‘Rollo’’ Mukorera should be a worried man now especially considering that his team failed to put any points on the score board.
The win saw Old Hararians stretching their lead on the log standings to 38 points with Old Georgians lying second on 30 points but with two games in hand.
Another Bulawayo side Old Miltonians lost 3-38 to Old Georgians in the capital but coach Theo Weale was pleased with the overall performance of his boys.
‘‘It was a tale of two halves because Old Georgians dominated the first half and we dominated the second half.
“The game was tightly contested and my boys put up a good show. Our breakdowns and offensive were good but we failed to convert chances that fell our way. Credit to the boys for holding their own and I don’t think the scoreline reflects the true nature of the game,’’ said Weale.
Matabeleland Warriors managed to beat Gweru Sports Club 26-25 in a closely contested game.
Whipping boys Zvishavane Bulls were at the receiving end of yet another hiding when Harare Sports Club hammered them 100-3 in Harare.
Only a miracle can save Zvishavane Bulls’ sinking ship as they are finding it hard to keep their heads above water.
The technical team of Ganizani Ganizani, Darlington Majoni and former Sables player Emmanuel Munyoro have a lot of work to do if they entertain hopes of staying in the top flight rugby league.
