Westprop ploughs back into community

WestProp Holdings has disbursed US$7 500 and $609 000 school fees for 112 orphaned children who include primary secondary and college students as part of giving back to society under its corporate social responsibility programme.

The fees assistance was paid directly to the schools and colleges for children staying at Shungu Dzevana Children’s Home.

Company acting chief investments officer Ms Tatiana Sharpe confirmed the payments adding that the company would never slow down on assisting children and students living under difficult circumstances. Tatiana said.

“I know that this donation for scholarship fees made by WestProp LTD holdings will make a positive impact in empowering these orphans to receive equal access to education. I am proud of the CSR department for making this happen.”

WestProp has set aside 10 percent of its profits to assist the less privileged members of society who include widows and children so that they can afford meaningful and decent lifestyles.

The fees have been paid out for this school term, and WestProp Holdings will continue to track the impact of such a donation in increasing quality education in Zimbabwe, measuring the increase in literacy and mathematic proficiency levels. This is done in accordance with reaching our national goals towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), primarily SDG 4: Quality Education.

A total of 19 students from Hatfield Junior benefited, 51 from St Bonaface Primary, 3 from Martindale, 30 from Rio Zimbabwe and 2 in boarding at the same school, 5 at Nyangweni Primary and two students at Harare Polytechnic College.

WestProp has engaged in a number of CSR projects including the sprucing up of the Greenwood Park, support to various other children’s homes and assistance to women groups and cancer patients.
